If you have been eating with us as The Best Nigerian Food in Kigali, nothing on your plate has changed. The same pots, the same hands stirring them, the same recipes. We simply answer to a new name now: Jollof Bistro. The old name stays with us, because it is how most of Kigali found us in the first place.

A women-owned family kitchen in Remera

We are a family business, women-owned and women-run, cooking Nigerian and West African food the way it is cooked at home. Our regulars are Nigerians and West Africans who miss the taste of home, joined every day by expats and Kigali locals who came once for the jollof and kept coming back.

What we serve

The classics first: smokey party jollof rice, fried rice and coconut rice; egusi, okro, ogbono, bitterleaf and pepper soup with fufu, amala or poundo yam; suya and kilishi; moi moi, chin chin and puffs; dodo (plantain, or mizuzu) alongside almost everything. Vegan versions of our best sellers sit on the same menu, including vegan egusi, vegan okro soup, vegan smokey party jollof and vegetable fried rice.

Beside the restaurant we keep an African raw-food store, so you can carry home garri, ofada rice, elubo and amala flour, ogbono, beans flour, smoked fish and Nigerian long grain rice. And when you are cooking for a crowd, our food travels in litres: 2L and 4L party packages of rice, soups, stews, beans and plantain.
