Acha, known internationally as fonio, is one of the oldest cultivated grains in West Africa. The grains are tiny and pale gold, they cook in a matter of minutes, and they taste light and gently nutty, a little like couscous with more character.
Serve it fluffed as a base for soups and stews, cook it as a soft porridge, or use it in place of rice for a lighter plate. It is naturally gluten free, which makes it a useful staple to keep in the cupboard. This listing is a 500g pack, priced in RWF.
