Oha soup is South-Eastern comfort food. The oha leaves are torn rather than cut and go into the pot at the very last moment, so they keep their delicate, almost floral flavour. Underneath sits a base thickened the traditional way with cocoyam and enriched with palm oil, crayfish and pepper.
This one is loaded with assorted meat, the familiar mix of shaki, ponmo and beef cooked until tender. The heat is gentle to medium so the oha still comes through. Pounded yam is the classic partner, but eba, semo and fufu all work. Prices are in RWF.
