Ewedu is one of the lightest soups in the Yoruba repertoire. Jute leaves are cooked briefly and worked smooth so the soup runs silky and gently drawing, with a fresh green taste and only light seasoning behind it.
Adding seafood keeps that lightness intact while giving the bowl real savour, which makes this a good choice when you want something nourishing rather than heavy. The pepper is mild. Amala is the classic partner, though eba, semo and fufu all sit well with it. Prices are in RWF.
